A friendly sheep greets the Google Street View car as it makes its way to the tiny Scottish settlement of Skaw. Located at the very end of Unst, the most remote of the Shetland Islands, Skaw is the northernmost settlement in the UK.

Clouds, sea, beach, and mountains conspire to yield a strikingly beautiful scenery in the Isle of Harris, part of the Outer Hebrides islands in Scotland. This is just an example of many scenic vistas along the “Golden Road”, known as such because of how expensive its construction was. Right across the strait, under the cloud cover, lies the Luskentyre beach, once voted as Britain’s best.
